Microbiological Analysis

Structure: Department of Food Environmental and Nutritional Sciences
Person in charge: Prof. Francesca Cappitelli

Equipment and Tools

The laboratories managed by Prof. Cappitelli are equipped with different tools for qualitative-quantitative survey of microorganisms on surfaces and in aerosol, and for the assessment of biological risk.
The laboratories have sophisticated platforms for molecular analysis (metagenomics and metatrascrittomics) and bioreactors for bioreceptivity and biodeterioration studies.
The laboratories are also equipped with incubators, coolers, ultrafreezers, anaerobic boxes, air sampling impinger systems, spectrophotometers, multimode fluorescence and luminescence microplate reader, cytofluorimeters and cell sorter.
Available tools include also stereomicroscopes, optical microscopes, epifluorescence and confocal ones equipped with camera and software for image processing.
