Services

CRC LaMPo’s expertise includes the synthesis of many types of polymers, making use of glass or steel reactors, though high temperature and mass synthesis (i.e. with high viscosity products).

Depending on the type of synthesis and product, a maximum of 250-300 grams of polymer per batch can be obtained.

Analysis of polymers and materials

The analysis include:

  • molecular weights evaluation of different polymer families (CRC LaMLo has 4 GPC systems: in DMF, CH2Cl2, THF and H2O)
  • characterization of low molecular weight polymers through MALDI-TOF tool
  • thermal analysis (DSC, TGA) and infrared (FT-IR), with possible combination of continuous TGA and IR
  • study of the properties of viscous materials, fluids, solids (specimens and flexible films) and solutions by using rotational rheometer, operating between 15 and 550 °C
  • study of the molecular characteristics of macromolecules via NMR, with probe for H and C; solid state analysis with probe for eteronuclei
  • processing of materials using a co-rotating twin-screw extruder (ø = 11 mm, L / D = 40)
  • creation of dogbone specimens of thermoplastic materials using a Babyplast injection press
